What was happening at the Club.

2015-Dec-13 - Whether you're interested in an evening flight to see the Christmas lights, or would like to test the waters of flight training by taking your introductory flight, the Debert Flight Centre's here for you! 2015-Dec-01 - We'll be having a breakfast at the Club this Saturday morning (December 5) between 9AM to 11AM! Please come on out, start your day right with the very healthiest bacon, sausages and pancakes smothered in maple syrup. It'll give you all the energy you'll need to get all your holiday errands done in one day on your way back home!

2015-Nov-22 - COPA 60 and TFC/COPA 188 are co-hosting a get together with COPA's new President and CEO, Bernard Gervais. Along with getting a chance to meet with Bernard, we'll also be enjoying a tour of the Gateway hangar (which includes seeing executive machines like Fred George’s Challenger, etc). There will also be a tour of the shipping facility that ships live lobsters all over the world. The events start at 7:00pm on Thursday, December 10th. The Gateway facilities are located on Pratt and Whitney Drive at the Halifax Stanfield Airport. Everyone is welcome to attend, so invite friends and family along as well!

2015-Nov-01 - Al Farrell has arranged a guided tour at the Atlantic Canada Aviation Museum on November 7 at 3:00 PM. The Museum is located at the Halifax Stanfield Airport exit on the west side of the highway. We will arrange to meet for a social after the tour. We're looking for a count of folks who are planning on going, so please let us know as soon as you can so we can let the guide know how many to expect - everyone is welcome!

2015-Sep-30 - Chow down time this Saturday morning! - We're having a breakfast get together this Saturday (October 3rd) from 9 AM to 11 AM. Please come out and visit, have a bite and generally enjoy the club! PS - If you have a couple of hours to spare we could use a few volunteers (Contact us if you can lend a hand). Otherwise, all you need to bring is your appetite!

2015-Sep-15 - Time to get your Night Rating! - With the sun setting a little earlier, and those evening temperatures in that pleasant autumn range, now's the time to go after that night rating. 2015-Jun-30 - ***RSVP ASAP by calling the Club at 902 662 2228***. Our majordomo of the Truro Flying Club, Stu Fairchild, has decided to kick back, relax, and revel in the luxury of retirement life. But, we're not going to let him go THAT easily! To celebrate Stu’s time with the Club, we've organized a dinner event, and all are welcome. Details follow:

  • Date: Saturday, August 15th, 2015
  • Time: From 6 PM.
  • Location: Hurricane Room, Debert Hospitality Center
  • Cost: $25 per person
  • Buffet Meal: Two salads, barbecue chicken breast, oven roasted potatoes, selection of seasonal mixed vegetables, rolls, chef’s dessert table, tea and coffee.
  • Vegetarian meals available on request.
  • Please advise of any serious allergies.
  • Cash bar

    Please reserve and purchase your tickets at the club prior to July 31. You can pay later but please let us know you are coming as soon as possible because the Hospitality Center needs the final guest count by August 1st. We will send follow up emails with some more details of the evening, directions etc. There is ample parking at the Center and easy access from the airport if you choose to fly in.     2015-May-28 - It's that time of the year again! - Our annual Steak and Lobster Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, June 20th between 6:00 and 10:00pm. A mere $20 will buy you a fresh cooked lobster, a sizzling cut of steak, lots of sides (coleslaw, potato salad, etc.), and a medley of desserts to make your belly burst!     2015-May-04 - Pilot Recurrent Training - AKA Rust Remover - We are planning on hosting a pilot recurrent training session on the evening of May 12th. Frank and Gino's on the corner of Juniper and Robie Streets in Truro is the tentative location. Mike Doiron will be our presenter. Aviation training is Mike's trade and speciality and what he delivers is both informative and useful. Mike will keep your attention from start to finish and his presentations are Transport Canada approved, so bring your log book.     2015-Apr-30 - 2015 NOAA Hurricane Awareness Tour - NOAA hurricane hunter aircraft will be available for tours in Halifax, Nova Scotia between 1:00pm and 5:00pm on Sunday, May 3rd. Experts will visit the Halifax Airport aboard a U.S. Air Force Reserve WC-130J hurricane hunter aircraft and the NOAA G-IV aircraft, both of which are used in hurricane forecasting.     2015-Feb-24 - The 2015 Truro Flying Club Annual General Meeting - The Annual General Meeting will be held at 7:30pm on Monday, March 2nd this year at the Flying Club in Debert. Three director's terms are ending and one has decided not to re-offer. To ensure we have a full slate of directors, we encourage you to consider nominating someone you think would be able to help guide the club to a solid and successful future. Please plan to attend the meeting!

    2015-Jan-25 - Join us for the Wings Parade! - On February 21 at 7:00pm, the Club is hosting a dinner at Frank and Gino's in Truro for everyone who has gotten a new licence or upgrade since the last Wings Parade. We've sent an invitation to all the folks we think fit the bill, but if you've gotten a licence, upgrade or rating in the last few years and didn't hear about the Wings Parade, please let us know so we can amend the guest list.
